In this interview Enzo Staiola told us the good fortune of having participated, when he was just 8 years old, to one of most important movies of Neorealism: Bicycle Thieves by Vittorio De Sica (1948).
He does not hide which influence this interpretation had on his later career, but he prefers to tell a few anecdotes regarding his relationship with Vittorio De Sica and the making of that film.
Finally, talking about his participation to the 70th Venice Film Festival with the documentary: Neorealism. We were not just … Bicycle thieves. Produced by Triworld Cinema, written and directed by the late Carlo Lizzani and Giovanni Bozzacchi, Enzo Staiola doesn’t avoid to express his opinion about how much is still alive the Neorealism nowadays.
