Pietro Germi actor, screenwriter and director. Genoa native, only male after three sisters, lost his father when he was only 10 years. Germi attended the Instituto Nautico for three years before entering Rome’s Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia (Experimental Center of Cinematography). There he studied acting and directing supporting himself with various jobs in small film productions as actor, assistant director, screenwriter etc.

Michelangelo Antonioni director, screenwriter, editor, writer and painter, considered one of the greatest directors in film history. Born in September 29,1912 into a middle-class family of landowners in Ferrara. He studied economics and commerce at the university of Bologna, though he continued to live at home. He also began haunting the cinemas and writing film criticism for a newspaper in the neighbouring city of Padua.

Silvana Mangano was one of the italian most famous, beautiful and sensual actresses of the post-war italian cinema. Born in Rome, daughter of Sicilian railroad worker and an English mother from Croydon. Trained as a dancer, Mangano was supporting herself as a model when, at 16, she won the Miss Rome beauty pageant. A year later, she became a contestant of Miss Italia. A rich edition which had among the contestants also the actress Lucia Bosé (who won the edition) and several other future stars of Italian cinema such as Gina Lollobrigida, Eleonora Rossi Drago and Gianna Maria Canale.

Actor, comedian , director, screenwriter, producer and Italian poet, born in a modest family of greengrocers in the Campo de Fiori, Aldo Fabrizi was a true Roman DOC and never lost his common touch. He began his career in music halls and variety shows in the '30s proposed a series of hilarious roman characters, until founding his own theater company, in which, at the end of the decade saw the debut of another great Roman actor Alberto Sordi.
